AWE Interactive App Deployment
As part of AWE’s Digital Transformation, we have been working on innovative digital experiences for our visitors and community. From our recent interactive exhibition, Flowing Forces to our digital text and audio guides accessed via QR code from your phone or tablet in the gallery we are changing how we relate to audiences through technology.
We’re excited to announce our partnership with St Clair College’s Mobile Applications Development program at the Zekelman School of Information Technology. Under faculty members Darren Takaki and Câi Filiault, AWE is working with students Chris Green and Yash Manishkumar Pindiwala. As their capstone project, Chris and Yash are creating a cross-platform app that will invite users to share their creative works alongside works from our collection. The app will complement our Look Again! Outside: St Clair College project.
Meet the Development Team:
Chris Green grew up in Windsor, Ontario, spending some of his teenage years in Amherstburg as well. He has had a lifelong interest in technology but didn’t purse it as a career path out of high school. Though he wasn’t in the field, he maintained an interest and taught himself everything from hardware repair to coding. At the age of 28, Chris made the decision to go back to school and chose St Clair College because of their direct connections to the industry.
In his second year of college, Chris founded Aperture Interactive, providing web development services to clients. Through this business, he was able to successfully support his family. Chris also gained experience through designing and developing the St. Clair website for scweb IT programs as a programmer and mobile application developer.
Chris is excited to be involved in this project with AWE as he sees parallels between technology and artistry. He views development as a form of creative expression and believes in the power of technology to enhance and expand the reach of art, making it more accessible and engaging for audiences.
Following this partnership, Chris aims to continue exploring the intersection of art and technology, seeking innovative ways to leverage technology for creative expression and cultural enrichment.
Chris finds fulfillment in creating digital solutions that bring joy and utility to others, viewing each project as an opportunity to blend technical skill with artistic vision. He is an active participant in the tech and arts communities, eager to collaborate and contribute to projects that promote innovation and cultural appreciation.
Yash Manishkumar Pindiwala grew up in Surat, Gujarat, India, where his fascination with technology first took root. He nurtured this passion by completing a Computer Engineering diploma in India. At the age of 20, Yash moved to Windsor as an international student, driven by the pursuit of quality education and a career in mobile application development.
Yash has found a sense of fulfillment in the creative aspect of development. He has gained valuable experience through an internship at Yellow Sky, as well as 8 months working as a junior Flutter developer.
Yash is excited about his partnership with AWE, thrilled at the prospect of merging art and technology and recognizing the potential to create experiences that transcend boundaries and captivate audiences. He believes that technology has the power to amplify and enrich artistic expression, opening new avenues for creativity and engagement.
Following this project, Yash aspires to continue pushing the boundaries of innovation in mobile app development. Yash fully believes in the transformative power of technology to shape the future and improve lives, and is dedicated to harnessing this potential for positive change.
Working alongside Chris and Yash is AWE’s Digital Initiatives Intern, Sarah Murphy who is studying Communications, Media and Film at the University of Windsor. Sarah has returned to AWE for a second internship after working last year with our marketing team.
With a background in writing and marketing, technology is a new field for Sarah to explore and she has been instrumental in working on our deployment plan, and content.
