Art Windsor-Essex is thrilled to be a co-presenting partner for seven screenings. With works by: Sky Hopinka, Lindsay MacIntyre, Victor Masayesva Jr., Caroline Monnet, New Red Order, Shelley Niro, and Alanis Obomsawin.

We are so excited to share this work with our community. And to celebrate the work of Indigenous artists and filmmakers in this special program from Media City and Cousin Collective. Film is a powerful medium to share stories, focus attention on people and ideas or make new worlds. This program provides everyone access to an incredible range of films.

On January 9th, visit www.mediacityfilmfestival.com to watch anywhere, with anyone. Share links with friends and connect afterwards for conversations.

A gallery space with a bench in the foreground. On the right three black and white photographs are installed on the wall depicting arms stretches towards each other over black landscapes. A print installed in the centre of the photographs references the Haudenosaunee Confederacy. On the left, a series of images depicting beadwork, fire, flowers, and water reference the medicine wheel teachings. The work is placed on a wall painted the same colour as the flag of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy.

To spend more time with Shelley Niro’s work visit the gallery to see Shelley Niro: Boundless. Curated by TD Curatorial Fellow Czarina Mendoza as part of Below the 6. The show includes works like Final Moments Thinking of You (1998). A multi-panel installation of colour photographs that reference the medicine wheel teachings. The work is placed on a wall painted the same colour as the flag of the Haudenosaunee confederacy.

Watch our socials throughout the program in January for posts highlighting each screening AWE is co-presenting.
