About the event
On Wednesday, June 22, at 6 pm, Art Windsor-Essex brings together some of the most innovative thinkers, creators, and exhibition designers to explore how innovative and intentional designs of exhibitions and programs can create conversations, and inspire awe.
What are best practices in exhibition and program design in terms of audience engagement? What are some important considerations for artists and curators to explore at the point of initiation, for the exhibition design process? How can thoughtful exhibition and program design open people’s minds in different ways? What can be done to inspire awe?
We will be joined in conversation by Megan Dickerson, Aisling Murray, and Rachel Ginsberg. Moderated by Jennifer Matotek, Executive Director, Art Windsor-Essex.

About the speakers
Megan Dickerson
Megan Dickerson is a curator, designer and playworker who understands that play and wellbeing are inextricably linked.
Her advocacy has led her to co-design wellness programs with people who live in public housing (Boston Children’s Museum, Boston), partner with artists and communities to build large-scale immersive artworks (The New Children’s Museum, San Diego) and speak internationally on play, museums and social justice (American Alliance of Museums, MuseumNext London, Next City Vanguard). In her current role as Director of Exhibits at
Birch Aquarium at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, Megan leads a team of designers who are finding ways to communicate climate change science in experiential and attainable ways.
Megan is one of the first Americans to earn a master’s degree (University of Gloucestershire) in Playwork, an innovative practice of working with children, and also holds a BA in History (UCLA) and an MBA (LIFT Economy) focused on regenerative organizations.
Rachel Ginsberg
Rachel Eve Ginsberg is a creative strategist and experience designer exploring the relationship between information systems, interaction design, and sensemaking as the founding director of the Interaction Lab at Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum. As an artist, Rachel experiments with interactive experiences that drive self-discovery and personal transformation. She has shown work at New York Film Festival, Sundance Film Festival, and International Documentary Festival Amsterdam (IDFA). Generous, radical collaboration, transdisciplinary problem solving, and non-hierarchical systems thinking heavily inform both artistic and professional practices.
Aisling Murray
Aisling Murray is currently Head of Programming at Science Gallery Dublin where she manages creative programs converging art, science, technology and society from concept to full realization in Ireland and internationally. She has been a jury member for Smarter Travel Campus Awards in Multimedia (2020 & 2021) the BioArt Design Awards (2019) and ARTificial Intelligence Lab (2019) and is a member of the World Economic Forum’s Expert Network since 2018. Aisling has specific interest in socially engaged work, creating low barrier access for audiences and removing obstacles for artists. Aisling has over 10 years of experience as a curator and creative producer with projects outside her current work included in Turkey Design Week, Lodz Design Week, Galway Theatre Festival, Cork Solstice Festival, Project Arts Centre, Dublin Fringe Festival, 10 Days in Dublin, 1st Irish New York and Moscow Fringe’s Irish Week.
